- Reduce the risk of tampering
- Extend product shelf life
- Prevent pilferage
- Create hermetic seals.
How induction works?
Induction cap sealing can be carried out using a wide range of caps and closures. Existing closures do not generally require modification and can simply have new liner materials added.
Induction liners are constructed from aluminum foil membranes coated with polymer and attached to a backing material by means of a wax bond.
The container is filled and the closure is fitted to the container using standard capping equipment, bringing the foil into contact with the mouth of the container.
As the container passes underneath the induction head an electromagnetic field creates a low level of localized heat in the foil membrane. This is sufficient to meet both the wax bond and the polymer coating. This process typically takes a few seconds and is carried out without affecting the properties of the product in the container or the normal line conditions.
The wax layer melts and releases the foil from the pulp board liner. Immediately after the container leaves the area of the electromagnetic field the polymer hardens, forming a flexible hermetic seal between the foil and the neck of the container.
